Meet Ho'ola Mama
How did you first learn about Ayurveda?
I was first introduced to the ancient science of Ayurveda when I did my Yoga Teacher Training in January of 2015. The history, philosophy, and science behind Ayurveda was intriguing to me and I knew I wanted to dive deeper into my Ayurvedic studies. Little did I know, that a decline in my health later that year would drive me right to the doors of Ayurvedic Medicine and later into a journey towards vibrant health.
How did you start Ho’ola?
Ho’ola, in the ancient Hawaiian language, means “to give life.” Ho’ola naturally became a platform, a safe space for me, to share and offer the same gifts of Ayurveda and Yoga that were given to me by my teachers. I wanted to create a brand that inspired viewers to live a life of spirited health, happiness, balance and sustainability by engaging in all things that give them LIFE.
What is your dosha?
My current vikruti is a higher Pitta, however, my prakruti is Vata Pitta!
What’s your biggest tip for adopting an Ayurvedic lifestyle?
Eat according to the seasons, and layer that on top of eating for your mind-body type. Many cities are blessed to have local farmer’s markets that pop up throughout the week, so I recommend trading in your grocery store visits to support our local farms!
What is your meditation routine?
I begin each day with warming up my spine, practicing breathwork, and then diving into my meditation practice. Lately, I have been meditating on all of the things I am grateful for.
What are your favorite plant-based meals you just can’t live without?
I absolutely love plant-based Thai food and plant-based Mexican food! I also find happiness in cooking Ayurvedic-inspired Asian dishes at home.
What is your mantra?
I AM LOVE
What gives YOU life?
Oh, the list is long and beautiful. I am truly thankful to be surrounded by the humans, places, food, nature, wildlife and experiences that give me life!
